Calling All Designers!

We are paving our way to create the Glue Dots Design Team!

Glue Dots is looking for enthusiastic designers that offer an array of crafts, skills, and projects. We are not limiting entries to categories as we want to see your full creative ability!

Submissions may include but are not limited to: paper crafts, scrapbooking, kids crafts, general crafts, specialty crafts, school projects, DIY projects, bridal crafts, etc.

We will be accepting four different levels:

1- Designers with their own active blog

2- Designers who want to blog with us

3- Designers with a love of social media

4- Designers who will contribute projects, crafts, and ideas with no blog or writing needed

Glue Dots International Supports the Global Genes Project- An Initiative to Raise Awareness for Children Living With Rare Diseases

Glue Dots International, a leader in the adhesive industry, is proud to announce the company’s support of the Global Genes project- an initiative designed to raise awareness about the prevalence of rare diseases that affect millions of children worldwide. Approximately 75% of those affected by rare diseases are children, making the rare disease category one of the most deadly and debilitating for children worldwide. Glue Dots® is honored to have their products bond together the ribbons of awareness, in the hope that these ribbons will bond and unify support from around the world.

Earlier this year the Children's Rare Disease Network launched the Global Genes Project , an initiative designed to raise awareness about the prevalence of rare diseases. Advocates organizing the campaign selected a blue jeans denim ribbon as the international symbol of hope for children suffering from life threatening and chronically debilitating diseases.

“We are excited to join forces with Glue Dots on our mission to find treatments and cures for rare diseases. Together we will spread the word by bonding with people around our cause,” said Nicole Boice, founder of Global Genes Project.

“We’re very lucky to have a product that can help build awareness for such a worthy cause as Global Genes. When they contacted us with their heartfelt story, we were honored to be the adhesive bonding the ribbons that represent millions of children afflicted by rare diseases," said John Downs, President of Glue Dots International. "We had no idea how many children were being affected and we want to help spread the message.”

Glue Dots® helped raise funds and awareness by organizing a company wide awareness week which led up to World Rare Disease Day on Feb. 28th, 2010. In the upcoming months Glue Dots is also planning different activities with Global Genes to promote awareness all year round.

Glue Dots International Supports Elastic Park in Race for Pepsi Refresh Grant

If you were amazed by the visual wonders of Pixar’s Up the movie, Elastic Park is right up your alley! Imagine thousands of balloons inflated to create the first-ever prehistoric museum based on Michael Crichton’s popular novel, Jurassic Park. Glue Dots International , a leader in the adhesive industry, announces the company’s support in Elastic Park’s quest for a Pepsi Refresh grant.

Elastic Park is a giant balloon art installation as well as a life-size science exhibit that will bring people together in a way that can actually have life-changing impact. Larry Moss, the mastermind behind Elastic Park, will lead a crew of fellow artists from all over the world in building the multi-thousand-square-foot exhibition using up to 100,000 balloons. Working alongside the artists will be hundreds of community volunteers, who are of vital importance in completing the enormous air-filled installation in less than a week.

“Elastic Park is exactly what Pepsi is looking for- a ‘refreshing project that can change the world’, said John Downs, President of Glue Dots International. "Glue Dots® is thrilled to be part of such a creative and educational project that can travel the US- bringing the community together.”

Larry Moss, applied for the $50,000 Pepsi refresh grant on January 13th, through PepsiCo’s new social marketing initiative. Moss and Elastic Park did not win the first round of voting but they are back in the competition for another month which started March 1st.The voting public will now decide whose dreams will become reality with PepsiCo's money, and Moss, who has created large-scale projects like this for the past 12 years, believes he has a shot.

“’I’m excited to have Glue Dots® pushing for us. To make things even better, they introduced Glue Dots® Dot N’ Go dispensers. I’ve wanted a convenient dispenser for these things forever. We use so many Glue Dots that I buy industrial boxes but a smaller applicator will be helpful in my balloon bag,” said founder of Elastic Park- Larry Moss.

Inspired by Michael Crichton’s popular novel, "Jurassic Park," Elastic Park will combine art, science and community-building in a never-before-seen way. With input from prehistory experts, it will take visitors on an educational but highly entertaining journey through time as they walk among life-size dinosaurs from the Triassic through the Cretaceous periods. Along the way, they'll see some of the most unique "pop" art on the planet, and – perhaps most importantly – they'll learn the power of working together.

If awarded a grant, Moss plans to build Elastic Park later this year at Exploration Place in Wichita, KS, where it will also serve as the model for an extended national museum tour. Voting will close on March 31st.

Justin Bieber Candle

What will you need?

-printed photos or magazines with images of your favorite star (we used Twist Magazine, J-14 Magazine, and M Magazine)
-scissors
-container candle to decorate
-Glue Lines®
-Removable Glue Dots Dot N' Go (TM)
-embellishments of your choice

1. Choose your favorite photos and phrases of your favorite celebrity. We chose Justin Bieber, but also love the stars of Twilight and Taylor Swift!

2. Cut photos into different shapes that will fit on and around your chosen candle.

3. Remove candle label.

4. Place Glue Dots on the back of each photo and place them on the glass container.

5. Add to your candle and photos with embellishments of your choice. We chose lip stickers, three dimensional love quotes, and various valentine inspired embellishments from Basic Grey's "Sugar Rush" page kit.

6. Light your candle and enjoy!

We used both Glue Lines and Removable Glue Dots for different embellishments/photos on the candle. If you have a photo you may want to remove at some point, always use the Removable Glue Dots since all other Glue Dots are for permanent use.

You can use this same technique on picture frames, clocks, and other household items that need star power!

Scrapbooking with Glue Dots- My First Scrapbook

Before today, I lived in a world focused on digital pictures, photoshop, and facebook. I have tons of folders on my computer with lots of fun photos. I have finally chosen to take my creativity to a new horizon with scrapbooking!

I have officially started my first Scrapbook. To start, I am using the Basic Grey "Sugar Rush" page kit. I love the unique embellishments, vellum, and paper included! I also used Glue Lines® to keep everything neatly in place!

My first scrapbook is dedicated to my boyfriend and new kitty! We love to travel, eat out, and the Holidays!

I am including personal notes that I write by hand!

I used my computer to add text to my images so they'd be extra personal to our travels and experiences.

My first page of scrapbooking! I also used some extra 3D embellishments I found for Valentine's Day which I also included on the cover. The book itself is made from black corduroy so my boyfriend likes it.

Since my Kitty loves anything new in the house, our new scrapbook is no exception! She has found a new pedestal!

I'm very new to the world of scrapbooking so please feel free to send me tips, links, and your favorite new techniques. I have a feeling that I'm going to be hooked with many pages and books to come!
